Endlesham Hall Trust is managing the project, with a collaborative approach at its heart. The trustees are working with a dedicated team of volunteers with long-standing connections to the local area, and partnering with like-minded people and organisations to make the vision for the new hall a reality.

Meet the team

With diverse backgrounds, professions and ages, the team comes from all walks of life, bringing a variety of perspectives and skills to the project. We are passionately committed to giving our time and talents to seeing the vision of a vibrant community hub come to life.

Sue

Trustee

I’ve worked as Assistant Pastor at Balham Community Church where, 18 years ago, a group of leaders shared their dreams of a new community hub for the future. That vision has never faded and without it, we wouldn’t have come this far. I now have the responsibility of ensuring that the project remains faithful to the dream.

Rose

Trustee

I’ve managed Endlesham Hall for many years and have enjoyed meeting and getting to know all the lovely folk who use it. I live locally and I’m excited to see the redevelopment of this beloved space so that we can continue to serve our community for years to come.

John

Trustee

As a Christian minister and friend I have been connected with Balham Community Church for many years, teaching seminars and providing counsel about the church’s vision and function. The current project reflects the central Christian themes of love and service and I’m thrilled to bring my experience as an ordained minister and project manager to serve as a trustee.

Des

Project manager

As the leader of Balham Community Church, I spent nearly three decades guiding a diverse community of people in living lives that reflect Christian values. Over the years, we have welcomed all sorts of people from the local area to use Endlesham Hall. My passion is to create a vibrant and eco-friendly facility which provides a high quality, affordable space for everyone to enjoy for generations to come.

Edward

Project manager

I have lived and worked in Balham for 35 years, and been part of the Endlesham Road community for 11 of those. My family have used the hall ourselves, attending events that celebrate local life and enterprise. I have a professional background in architecture, history, town planning, landlord and tenant matters and construction. Creating a new hall to serve our community long into the future is a key ambition of mine.

Leon

Fundraising

I have lived and worked in Wandsworth for over 40 years and know the dynamics and issues facing our local community. Deeply impressed by the vision to adapt Endlesham Hall, I was motivated to get involved. I welcome the opportunity to provide much-needed affordable housing and a versatile community space that’ll benefit many groups in this area.

Ruby

Fundraising

I have lived and worked in Wandsworth since the late 70s and understand its advantages, needs and problems well. I was impressed by the commitment of the Endlesham Hall team and their desire to make better use of the site by creating affordable housing for young people and a safe social space for wellbeing. I believe this project will contribute to a more cohesive and engaged community.

Roger

Fundraising

I have lived in this community since 1984. I run Roger Black Consultancy, and I’ve also worked with CITIZENS UK to support their campaigns to build genuinely affordable housing on Community Land Trusts. I feel passionate about the value of community, and it’s this project’s combination of affordable rental accommodation and provision of scarce community space that has brought me to the team.

Elina

Communication and design

Growing up in Balham, I spent my childhood with the church at Endlesham Hall, and this welcoming community became my extended family. I now run an independent design practice and work with the hall on its website and communications. Over the years, I’ve seen the vision for a new building grow and evolve, sensitively responding to community needs. I’m particularly excited about the creative opportunities that a versatile and affordable space will provide for local young people.

Joseph

Social media

As a long-standing member of Balham Community Church, I have a strong connection with Endlesham Hall and the local community. I have volunteered on many projects over the years, including a weekly youth club, the annual street party and the Nightingale Square hostel. Having witnessed the effect Endlesham Hall has had on community cohesion, I’m inspired to see how a modernised building with better facilities can further strengthen the sense of community in Balham.

Hannah

Writing

I’m Hannah, and I’ve worked with churches nationally and internationally for the last 25 years. I’m passionate about seeing people and their environments flourish. This is why I’m honoured to be part of the project team. The redevelopment of Endlesham Hall is an exciting opportunity to provide a versatile resource for the whole community to thrive, ecologically, individually and collectively.

Ipeng

Architect

Creating places where communities can connect, thrive and contribute to mutual success and wellbeing is the motivation for what I do. I am an Architect with over 25 years of experience working in collaboration with housing associations, local authorities, charities and community groups on mixed-used urban sites. I’ve lived a 2-minute walk from Endlesham Hall my whole life, and I believe we need to respond to this generation’s future needs. I’m excited by the possibility of creating a resource for our community that will outlive me and where people can find hope and connection and truly feel at home.
